Canada's Coolest School Trip

2018 Winners

Grade 7,8 and 9 and Secondary 1, 2 and 3 classes were asked to make a photo essay documenting a stewardship activity in which they participated related to a Parks Canada place or the Parks Canada mandate. So many inspiring entries were submitted, making it a difficult choice for the judges to pick this year’s winners. Congratulations to everyone who entered!

Grand Prize:

 

 

Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre, Medicine Hat, Alberta

Mrs. Henderson’s grade 8 students from Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre, Alberta, put together a very thoughtful photo essay on their efforts to raise fire safety awareness. It was inspired by the Waterton Lakes National Park of Canada’s Kenow wildfire. Their original photo essay that clearly explained their stewardship activity has one them an all-expenses-paid trip to Ontario! Congratulations!

 

 

Runner-up Prizes: 

Juvénat Notre-Dame du St-Laurent, Lévis, Quebec

The photo essay made by students from Juvénat Notre-Dame du St-Laurent in Lévis, Quebec highlighted their work to create posters to share the island of Juvénat and the school’s history with those around them.

Timothy Christian School, Chilliwack, B.C.

Choosing to tackle marine plastic pollution, Timothy Christian School put together a well-organized photo essay linked to Gwaii Haanas National Park to showcase their efforts which included speaking to farmers and their local MLA.

Indian Head High School, Indian Head, Saskatchewan

Indian Head High School used many action shots in their photo essay to tell the story of their journey to become Knowledge Keepers and host a community First Nations cultural day to share their learning.
